Problem getting Pregnant

I have written this section of the site in an attempt to help women who want to get pregnant quickly, once you have made that decision to have a baby just like most things in life people tend to "want it now", however having a baby is not quite like going to the local store to buy the ingredients for lunch.

In fact the chances of getting pregnant quickly are quite remote, for a healthy couple below the age of 25 years the odds are only 25% in any given month, that is accounting for the fact that you are having regular sex at the right time and often enough, these odds go way down as you get older, in any way stressed, a little less than fit, in anyway under nourished (which in this day and age applies to many of us), women only who are: very overweight or obese, or may have an excess of Toxins or Free Radicals in their system (this one really does apply to most of the population in the West, where of course the bulk of fertility problems arise). I will deal with the above from the top with a short explanation, should you not believe me or want to discover more about a specific area of fertility then please Google On,

Baby Boomers and onwards, will remember that trying NOT to get pregnant was the big concern. Not so now. Now many couples wanting to have a baby are having a problem getting pregnant - 37% to put a figure on it. Quite astounding . That's probably a very conservative estimate, because these statistics have been harvested from people seeking help from IVF clinics which is just about the last place people will go while trying to get pregnant, and of course only from these that can afford a visit let alone treatment.

Regular sex at the right time

These conditions also apply to your partner, lets not forget that he has got to supply half the ingredients by way of sperm these sperm face an uphill task (literally) and it is important there is a ready supply waiting for the egg to emerge, healthy sperm can live for between 5 to 7 days inside the vagina waiting for the day, however unhealthy sperm may not even get to the tubes, so it is really important to have a ready supply of good healthy sperm, it is not good practice not to have sex all month waiting for the right time to emerge, sperm is living matter, with a short sell by date at that, anything longer than 10 days and there is a good chance that he will be firing mostly blanks on his first ejaculation, so stick to a regular healthy sex life and all will be well, then step things up a little at the right time.

Right Time

Right Time

Having regular sex at the right time during your cycle, do not attempt to guess when this is, your bodily calender may not be quite the same as the one in your diary ,buy a good thermometer and use it over the course of a few months or buy a simple fertility predictor, chart the fluctuations, and then look for a small 0.5 increase in body temperature, this SHOULD indicate the period of maximum fertility.

Beware it may only last a couple of days, once you have charted this for a couple of months you should be able to predict when your period of ovulation is due, then start having sex regularly for about a week prior to, this should ensure a ready supply of sperm eagerly awaiting the big day!

DO NOT and I shall repeat do not use artificial lubricants during sex they kill sperm "DEAD" they can sit in the vagina for weeks and will completely destroy any slim chance of conception,

Whilst on the subject of the actual sex act:

Orgasm and Orgasm again....sounds good eh? Well it is also good at helping you to get pregnant.

How? when you reach an orgasm the cervical muscles contract tightly causing the sperm to literally be sucked deeper into the vagina. Don't orgasm? Don't worry, you can simulate the effect of an orgasm in the vagina by tightening the lower pelvic muscles and drawing them in, best explained as the conscious and sometimes desperate effort of stopping yourself urinating when you have drunk far too much fluid and are still 10 minutes away from the nearest toilet.

So after sex simply relax lay back and practice as they say practice makes perfect, do not worry you will soon get the hang of it. In any case it is good practice to lie prone for 10 minutes or so after sex makes the sperm's journey uphill a little easier,

Getting Older

When you get a little older as a women one of the first systems to deteriorate is the reproductive system

simply because nature made us this way, not because there is anything necessarily wrong with us

however there is one element of getting prematurely older that I shall come to in due course, as for the male of the species age does not play such a role and sperm can still be active and healthy well after the delivery system is wrinkled and useless, however lifestyle plays a large part in male infertility problems

Now the other issues of Nutrition, Obesity, Stress and Lifestyle can easily be grouped into one heading as there is usually an easy and obvious answer to all these problems.

Toxins are so prevalent these days they start to be ingested into our systems from our mothers even before we are born and slowly accumulate in our systems over time, the body simply becomes saturated with these unwanted toxins as more and more are ingested from the food we eat, the chemicals we constantly come into contact with by way of cleaning products, insect repellents, the very air we breathe is full of toxins and try as we may it is difficult in todays society to avoid them.

Under normal circumstances the body is more than capable of dealing with any normal day to day toxins it may encounter, however the toxins of today are not made by nature but by man, and are far more deadly than any of natures counterparts, what is more deadly is that being man made the body does even recognises these compounds and or elements as toxins until they are in the system, and the damage is done,

These toxins really do surround us completely in the 21st century, they are in nearly all the food we eat from the antibiotics, steriods, preservatives and growth hormones in most of our meat and consequently dairy produce, pesticides, preservatives and chemical fertilisers in our fruit and vegetables, Incredibly strong Toxins in our everyday cleaning products & again in our personal hygene and beauty products the very air we breathe and water we drink is full of man made toxins.

Here is a snippet of a shocking report:

Environmental Working Group, July 14, 2005

Summary. In the month leading up to a baby's birth, the umbilical cord pulses with the equivalent of at least 300 quarts of blood each day, pumped back and forth from the nutrient- and oxygen-rich placenta to the rapidly growing child cradled in a sac of amniotic fluid. This cord is a lifeline between mother and baby, bearing nutrients that sustain life and propel growth.

Not long ago scientists thought that the placenta shielded cord blood — and the developing baby — from most chemicals and pollutants in the environment. But now we know that at this critical time when organs, vessels, membranes and systems are knit together from single cells to finished form in a span of weeks, the umbilical cord carries not only the building blocks of life, but also a steady stream of industrial chemicals, pollutants and pesticides that cross the placenta as readily as residues from cigarettes and alcohol. This is the human "body burden" — the pollution in people that permeates everyone in the world, including babies in the womb.

In a study spearheaded by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) in collaboration with Commonweal, researchers at two major laboratories found an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in umbilical cord blood from babies born in August and September of 2004 in U.S. hospitals. Tests revealed a total of 287 chemicals in the group. The umbilical cord blood of these children, collected by Red Cross after the cord was cut, harbored pesticides, consumer product ingredients, and wastes from burning coal, gasoline, and garbage.

This study represents the first reported cord blood tests for 261 of the targeted chemicals and the first reported detections in cord blood for 209 compounds. Among them are eight perfluorochemicals used as stain and oil repellants in fast food packaging, clothes and textiles — including the Teflon chemical PFOA, recently characterized as a likely human carcinogen by the EPA's Science Advisory Board — dozens of widely used brominated flame retardants and their toxic by-products; and numerous pesticides.

Of the 287 chemicals we detected in umbilical cord blood, we know that 180 cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests. The dangers of pre- or post-natal exposure to this complex mixture of carcinogens, developmental toxins and neurotoxins have never been studied.

So I hope to have probably made my point:

The truth is unless you live somewhere like here in Morocco, where there are hardly any polutants, cars or planes for that matter, where all the foods including meats are organic and really fresh, processed food is a complete luxury, and your average meal out is usually and only salad of some kind as starter, Fresh Fish or Tagine as a main and Fruit as a Desert, the chances are you are to some extent full of toxins, go throught the list see if any apply if they do you need to detox, and if you are having trouble concieving, or just want to give your baby the very best start in life you can then you really need to

After your Detox (if you can) then it is important to eat properly while trying to concieve to ensure your reproductive system is maintained in top condition prior to the big day. We strongly recommend you follow a healthy eating plan like our

Fad Diets. Never try fad dieting when trying to get pregnant. Always maintain a well-balanced, healthy diet in order to improve your chances of getting pregnant

It is also important to remember that a healthy diet goes hand-in-hand with regular, moderate exercise.

Being either underweight or overweight can also reduce your fertility. An irregular BMI can lead to infertility by causing irregular ovulation and menstrual cycles.

I know how frustrating it can be if you have been trying to get pregnant for a while, but don't worry as stress is in itself not good, in fact it can be a major cause of infertility. in 99% of cases couples can get pregnant naturally and quickly just by following some simple guidelines above.

If you feel like your system could do with a Spring Clean then check out our if you really cannot bring yourself to undertake a Detox but still feel that a cleanup will help (and it will) there is one

product made by India Herbs that does help clean the system without actually having to undergo a Detox that is AYURTOX which is a whole plant herbal preparation that helps to destroy toxins and free-radicals in the system it is one of the most effective natural Detox supplements on the market, to check out Ayurtox go

After your Detox (if you can) it is important that you ensure your body has the full range of vitamins and minerals to ensure your reproductive system is in top condition to ensure ease of pregnancy, and of course once pregnant you really need the right vitamins and minerals to ensure proper development of the embryo.

We normally recommend that you take just one mineral supplement and one multi-vitamin supplement

however when we are trying for a baby or just had our baby, circumstances are different and we really need a specific formula of pre and postnatal vitamins & minerals.

 T. J. Clark's Prenatal/Postnatal Multivitamin/Mineral Formula is specially developed to provide essential vitamin/mineral supplementation throughout pregnancy, during the postnatal period for both lactating and non-lactating mothers, and throughout the childbearing years. It is also essential for improving nutritional status prior to conception.
