Warm Kale Salad

Fall is the season for warm and nourishing foods. We want to eat substantial meals that feel grounding and wholesome to keep Vata calm and our agni (digestive fire) happy, yet sometimes we may want something that also feels lighter and, well, greener. I ate salads for so many years thinking that I was making the healthiest choice, but didn’t make the connection with eating too many raw vegetables and impaired digestion.

Since coming to Ayurveda, I still have some raw salads (mostly in the warmer months and when I know that my agni is strong) but I find that with tougher greens like kale, I digest them much better if steamed and paired with a grounding element like sweet potatoes.

The week that I created this recipe I think I ate this salad three times because it just totally hit the spot. It feels wholesome and grounding, yet light and fresh all at once. Perfect for the Fall and Winter season when we want to keep our bodies warm and nourished.

Wishing you a warm and cozy season; I hope you enjoy this recipe!
